The Nijo Castle is reason enough to make the trip to Kyoto. Once inside the castle, you will be provided with slippers in exchange for shoes, and then head for the Ninomaru Palace. Here you can see extravagant screen paintings, and learn about the castle. The famous nightingale floors squeak when walked upon.
