Specialty Travel Guide Japan

Japan is a country full of things to do. The people are polite and welcoming to visitors from all over the world. The country is full of good art and cuisine that will appeal to any traveler.

One must see in Japan is Ueno Park in Tokyo. Cherry blossoms line the paths, while locals and foreigners admire them. Ueno Park is Japan's largest park, with much to do. Many art galleries and museums are in the park, including the Tokyo National Museum and the Tokyo Metropolitan Modern Art Gallery. The Ueno Zoo is a favorite for families with children. The park is open all year, but the best, and most crowded, time to go is when the cherry blossoms are in bloom.

The Nijo Castle is reason enough to make the trip to Kyoto. Once inside the castle, you will be provided with slippers in exchange for shoes, and then head for the Ninomaru Palace. Here you can see extravagant screen paintings, and learn about the castle. The famous nightingale floors squeak when walked upon. They were designed in such a way that they would alert the occupants of intruders. There are several other buildings at the castle as well as a garden. Like Ueno Park, the gardens are best viewed when the cherry blossoms are in bloom (the fall.)

In Osaka, the Shitennoji Temple and Osaka Castle are sights that travelers from around the world come to admire. The temple is the oldest temple in Japan, built over 1,400 years ago, and is famous for its symmetrical design. The castle provides a beautiful view from the top, and is worth a trip.
